We recently completed our full accreditation review in December of 2024, and received our accreditation report in June of 2025 from the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS). We are thrilled to announce that the Cumming School of Medicine was granted **Full Accreditation with Indeterminate Term**. Find out what this means below!

## An introduction to Accreditation

The purpose of Accreditation is to support medical schools through a process of continuous quality improvement and to ensure they meet the required standards of Canadian medical education programs in the interest of students, faculty, patients, and society. The Undergraduate Medical Education program of the Cumming School of Medicine (CSM) has maintained continuous accreditation from the **Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS)** since the first students were admitted in 1970.

We invite CSM community members to share your comments by emailing the appropriate committee chair or by speaking to one of the committee members. We want broad input from faculty, staff, students and anyone who has a stake in the success of our medical school. Comments will be considered and addressed by the appropriate committee chairs.

## Timeline of our 2024 Accreditation Review and Follow Up

**October 21-23, 2024: Virtual Visit**\
**December 2-3, 2024: Onsite Visit**\
**February 10, 2025: Initial Visit Report**\
**March 11, 2025: Final Visit Report**\
**June 12, 2025: CACMS Full Visit Accreditation Letter**\
**August 1, 2026: Status Report Required for Submission to CACMS**\
**Fall 2028: Limited Site Visit Planned**
