Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to the Haskayne DBA, an applicant should fulfill the following criteria:

At least five years’ experience as lecturer/instructor in a relevant field in a college or university program.

* In exceptional circumstances, Individuals with less than 10 years of managerial experience may be considered.

Application Deadlines

The DBA program has one in-take per year, with classes beginning in January.

Applications for the DBA are considered on a rolling basis, you do not need to wait until the deadline to submit your application.

Admissions decisions are made by the decision date published for the round during which you submit your application.

Apply as early as possible to ensure your best chance for acceptance.

January 2027 Entry

Round 1: Deadline for completed applications, including all documentation (references, transcripts, etc.), is April 1, 2026 (decision by May 30, 2026).

Round 2: Deadline for completed applications, including all documentation (references, transcripts, etc.), is May 1, 2026 (decision by June 30, 2026).

International Application Deadline: Completed applications, including all documentation (references, transcripts, etc.) must be submitted no later than April 1, 2026 (decision by May 30, 2026).

How to Apply

If you have successfully completed the self-assessment, you are invited to submit your application. The application does not need to be completed in one session. You may save your work and access the application at a later time. In general, a full application will take between 3 - 4 hours to complete.

The University of Calgary uses an online application system to process applications.


Step 1: Request an eID and register for a UCID

Follow the instructions as per the link below to secure an eID and UCID:

Account Registration

If you previously studied at the University of Calgary you do not need to create a new UCID; the application system will allow you to retrieve your UCID if you have forgotten it.

If you have a staff UCID you will need to register for a student UCID to be eligible for student offers and discounts.

Step 3: Pay application fee

To process your application, a non-refundable application fee is required. The application fee can be paid via cheque, money order or credit card.

The application fee is $125 for Canadian citizens and permanent residents and $145 for international applicants.


Step 4: Request official transcripts

Official transcripts are required from all post-secondary institutions attended. Transcripts should be sent directly from the registrar of that institution to the Haskayne School of Business. Official transcripts will be sealed in an envelope with the institution’s official seal.

If the transcripts are in a language other than English, official translated copies are also required.

Step 6: Attend interview

Once your application is complete, the admissions committee will assess whether you meet our minimum requirements for admission. If the committee decides to proceed with your application, you may be invited to an interview with the program Director.

Admission into candidacy in the Haskayne DBA program requires students have a solid foundation in bridging academic theory and management practice, research methods and the relevant body of knowledge in strategic management, leadership and related general management topics.
