The APR is a tool for you and your supervisor to monitor your progress. Each year, you must complete the APR in May (most programs) to review your past work and set goals for the future year.

What to expect
If you are registered during the winter term, you will receive an email prompt in May to remind you to complete your APR report. Consult with your program for report submission deadlines. Topics covered include:
- courses completed and grades received
- scholarships
- research progress
- publications and conferences
- academic plans for the upcoming year
What happens after you submit the report
Supervisors and Graduate Program Directors will review and evaluate reports submitted by their students.
The APR is not intended to replace regular meetings and feedback from your Supervisor and Committee but rather to provide a structured opportunity for assessment of your academic progress together with planning for the next year.
Any unsatisfactory evaluations will be reviewed by an Associate Dean in the Faculty of Graduate Studies and an action plan to help you get back on track will be agreed upon
What happens if you don’t submit the report
If you do not complete your portion of the report within 15 days it will automatically be assigned to your supervisor for review. You will receive a reminder 10 days before and 5 days before it is assigned to your supervisor. If you miss your window to complete the report, you can ask your supervisor to return the report to you.
