The Senior Associate Dean, Faculty Affairs is responsible to the Dean for:
- Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP)
- University of Calgary Medical Group (UCMG)
- Faculty Affairs programs and related operations within the CSM, including:
- Fund Development
- Communications
- Alumni Engagement
- Faculty Analytics
The portfolio is also responsible for maintaining effective relationships with Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Alberta Health (AH).
The Senior Associate Dean, Faculty Affairs also represents the CSM on the Alberta Medical Association (AMA) Representative Forum

Academic Medicine & Health Services Program (AMHSP)

The Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP) ensures physicians affiliated with Alberta’s faculties of medicine are compensated for providing patient care along with their work related to research, innovation, education, administration, and leadership.
The AMHSP has enabled innovation across academic medicine and brought some of the best and brightest people in academic medicine to Alberta.
Mandate:
To create a financial, governance, and accountability platform for:
- Providing and enhancing high quality health care;
- Exceling in medical education and training of physicians and other learners;
- Providing and fostering strong leadership;
- Supporting advancement of knowledge through scientific and applied research; and
- Disseminating and applying results while innovating across all activities; to benefit Albertans and beyond.

Faculty Analytics adeptly accesses, utilizes, analyzes, and reports on data from all major administrative systems at Cumming School of Medicine, the University of Calgary, and Alberta Health, including but not limited to education, research, and financial data. We undertake and facilitate intricate analyses for departments, research institutes, and CSM leadership, collaborating with the main campus and other medical schools to provide comparative data. We proactively publish reports, contributing to a holistic understanding of CSM’s dynamics and positioning within the medical education and research landscape.
- We are proficient in deciphering information and offering valuable insights into data by leveraging a deep understanding of medical education and CSM’s organizational and business processes.
- We possess a wealth of experience navigating diverse data sources and adeptly consolidating and presenting this information in reports and other formats tailored for optimal use by CSM leadership.
- We have technical prowess in utilizing data gathering and reporting tools.
- We have high analytical proficiency in quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods research, assessment, data mining, and context-based machine learning.
