Through a judicial clerkship you will gain an inside view of the judicial system, work directly with judges and further develop your research, legal writing and ability to analyze legal problems. A judicial clerkship is prized by many in the legal community and will add lasting value to your professional profile.
#### When should you apply?
You will generally apply towards the end of the fall semester or early in the first semester of your winter term of your second year of law school (a small number will be due earlier in the Fall term, possibly as early as October).
#### Are you serious about applying?
If so, take note of these tips:
- Select a Fall course with a paper. You’ll need to submit a polished upper-year paper, with sound legal analysis, with your application.
- Attend the Candid Conversations on Clerking Session offered by the CPDO each fall.
- Speak to others who have previously clerked.
- Focus on your studies – solid grades will be needed to apply.
