Two VIVE PRO EYE together with the wireless adapter are available at Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center, Qatar University. The system offers dual_OLED displays with a combined higher resolution of 2880 x 1600 pixels and 615 PPI, which provides rich colors and contrast. For generating 3D spatial sound, Hi-Res certified headphones are integrated to give the users with a true-to-life immersive audio. The system is also capable of tracking and interpreting eye movements.The system is interfaced with Unity and Visual Studio. 

The main application of the VR system is to anlayze pedestrian behaviors and vehicle-pedestrian conflicts. The system is capable of collecting a detailed trajectory data such as, positioning/movement, walking speed, acceleration as well as the eye tracking information such as, frequency and time period of eye-fixations for certian events and road environment.

Utilization in research projects

The Center is currently utilizing the VR sytem in a joint project "Qatar-Japan Research Collaboration program QJRC", aiming to improve pedestrian safety at mid-block crosswalk locatoins.
