# [QU and Traffic Tech (Gulf) to Collaborate in the Fields of Research, Engineering Consultancy and Knowledge Transfer](javascript:void(0))

Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) represented by the Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center (QTTSC) signed a research agreement with the Traffic Tech (Gulf) Group to establish collaboration in the field of research, consultancy and knowledge transfer.

The agreement was signed by QU Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Omar Al-Ansari and Traffic Tech (Gulf) Group Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Abdel Rahman Al Khateeb in the presence of officials from both institutions. It aims to establish collaboration between QU and Traffic Tech in the research and professional training, as well as the exchange of information and consultancy.

QTTSC will provide the Traffic Tech (Gulf) Group with consultancy, professional training and workshops covering the areas of traffic engineering and traffic safety, while Traffic Tech (Gulf) Group will offer training to some of CENG students, as well as technical and technological support to QTTSC at all levels.

Dr. Khalid Kamal Naji, Dean of Engineering, commented saying, “This agreement today is a continuation of a series of agreements with the private sector to confirm CENG’s keenness to provide distinguished research and advisory services and stimulate sustainable economic and social development for the State of Qatar.”

He added, “This agreement that we sign today confirms our continuous endeavor to find solutions to the challenges facing the various sectors in the country, and to build local competencies capable of facing difficulties in a manner that serves all the institutions of the country, in line with national priorities towards a knowledge-based economy.”

Traffic Tech (Gulf) CEO, Eng. Abdel Rahman Al Khateeb said, “Traffic Tech (Gulf) fully supports Qatar University’s continuous efforts in developing collaboration and exchange of experience in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Traffic Engineering Solutions. The group looks forward to mutual coordination, scientific researches, technology transfer and sharing lessons learned by the private sector during the numerous roads projects in which the group was involved, especially those projects related to FIFA World cup 2022.”

He also noted that Traffic Tech was keen since its establishment more than twenty years ago, to provide partners with state-of-the-art Intelligent Transportation Systems and Traffic Engineering Solutions all over the state of Qatar through a highly specialized team of engineers and technicians.

In his comment, Dr. Muhammad Yusef Al-Qaradawi, Director of QU-CENG Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center said: “Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center strives to enhance cooperation with the private sector in order to achieve the vision of Qatar University, and this agreement is one of the important achievements on this path as it will enhance joint cooperation in the field of engineering consultancy, and will also contribute to the transfer of developed knowledge in the center to the community. Through this agreement, QTTSC will provide a set of professional training courses that aims to develop technical and knowledge capabilities in the field of traffic and safety engineering, noting that during the past five years, the center conducted more than 17 training courses in which more than 380 specialists participated. This agreement also includes conducting a study on the role of personal mobility vehicles, such as electric scooters, in the transportation system in the state of Qatar and identifying the challenges of the wide spread of such mode on traffic management and public safety.”
