QU’s Centre for Law and Development helps to produce “Sustainable Development Goals” book

The Centre for Law and Development (CLD) at Qatar University’s (QU) College of Law (LAWC) helps to produce a book entitled “Sustainable Development Goals,” with a chapter from the center’s Director, Dr. Jon Truby on financing and self-financing SDGs through financial technology, legal and fiscal tools. Dr. Jon Truby’s chapter provides innovative legal solutions to the problem of financing the United Nations SDG’s, which includes financial and technology and blockchain solutions, solutions involving the digitization of money and the formation of digital identities, and tax law and policy solutions.

This publication was made possible by a National Priorities Research Program (NPRP) award entitled ‘FinTech and RegTech: Building a resilient, inclusive and competitive legal and regulatory framework for 21st century finance in Qatar’ under the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). Both Dr. Jon Truby and Dr. Gordon Walker, the book’s editor, are principal investigators on the NPRP grant.

The book offers practical pathways for achieving and implementing the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Bringing together leaders from the World Bank, the financial and business sectors, the start-up community and academia globally, it explains what the SDGs are, how they came about and how they can be accelerated.
