Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center (QTTSC) at Qatar University (QU) named the winners of the Traffic Safety Ambassadors Program, which was run in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic and the National Committee for Traffic Safety. QAPCO and Dolphin Energy Limited supported this initiative with the aim of raising student and community awareness on the importance of traffic safety and to cultivate safe driving behavior among young adults in Qatar.
QTTSC Director Prof Faris Tarlochan as well as CENG faculty, staff, students, mentors and representatives from the General Directorate of Traffic, were all in attendance.
From the 11 participating schools, first place went to Omar Bin Al Khattab School for Boys, second place went to Ahmad bin Hanbal School for Boys and third place went to Tarek Bin Zeyad School for Boys.
Commenting on the event, CENG Dean Prof Abdelmagid Hammuda said, “Through this initiative, CENG is encouraging secondary school students to be a part of the traffic safety awareness program to play a vital role in spreading this culture within the community, and schools to find solutions to traffic safety challenges.”
Commenting on the company’s sponsorship of the Traffic Safety Ambassadors Program 2019, Dolphin Energy’s General Manager - Qatar, Mr. Hassan Al-Emadi said, “We are very proud to support this important program for the second year, helping to raise awareness among secondary school students and encouraging them to stay vigilant, follow road safety rules at all times and play a vital role in spreading this culture within the community. Congratulations to the winners and all involved.”
Prof Faris Tarlochan said, “The QTTSC team is pleased to involve secondary school students in this initiative that is jointly run in coordination with center partners for the benefit of all stakeholders who are committed to support QTTSC events targeting community, schools through campaigns, initiatives and public events.” QTTSC hopes more schools in Qatar will take part in this excellent initiative in the future.
