Course Outline :
1. Safety practice in Biomedical Research Center.
2. A tour in the various sections of the center and initial explanation of the work of each department.
3. A theoretical and practical explanation for each department and training ondifferent tests and equipment is in the lab.
4. Evaluation of the trainee to the extent of his ability and knowledge of the information provided to him in the section through a test.
### Safety Training
| | | |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **#** | **Required task** | **Brief** |
| 1 | Sample handling | The trainee will recognize through this task type of the samples that he will dealwith and how to prevent the risk of those specimens. |
| 2 | Type of PPE | The necessary to comply with PPE and wearthem before starting the laboratory work. |
| 3 | Fire and safety | The trainee must know the emergency exits and fire extinguishers and check thelocation and contents of the chemical spillkit and howit is used. |
| 4 | Waste Management | Identify types of biological waste and types of containers used and how to get rid ofthem properly |
| 5 | Daily cleaning maintenance | Take careto clean the workplace before and after laboratory work and return thechemicals and tools used in the right place |
### Technical Training
- #### Genomic section
| | | | |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| # | Required task | Brief | Reagent and consumables needed |
| 1 | Sampling and extraction | 1. The trainee will trains on the type of samples that will be processed and prepared to undergo DNA extraction 2. Use of different workstations depends on the nature of extraction whetherDNA or RNA or PCR. | Need for DNA extraction kit |
| 2 | Instrumentation | 1. After the process of extraction, training is carried out on the process of qualitative and quantitative measurement to determine the quantities required for the samples to be tested and this is done using several devices such as: - Genova Nano and Tecan. - Quatus flourometer and qubit. 2. Production stage is done by PCR either by using Cycler PCR OR Quant studio | - No need for reagent - Need for reagent and tubes from promega - Need for reagents |
| | Result analysis | Through this step the trainee can read the results by using gell electrophoresis and I bright | For gell electrophoresis need reagent |
