1. Come Prepared:

• Bring Assignments & Instructions: Have a copy of the assignment prompt, rubrics, and any specific guidelines from your instructor.
• Drafts & Notes: If you have already written something, bring your draft and any notes, outlines, sources or citations or research you've gathered.

2. Start Early:

• Get a Head Start: Avoid waiting until the last minute and book your sessions in advance. Our support is more effective when you have time to apply the feedback and make revisions.
• Multiple Visits: Consider scheduling more than one session if your paper/assignment needs substantial development.

3. Understand Our Role:

• We Provide Guidance, Not Editing: We will help you improve your writing skills, but they will not rewrite, edit, or fix your paper for you.

• We Don't Assess or Grade Work: Our role is to help you improve your writing skills and grow as a writer, not to judge your work. The ultimate evaluation is up to your instructor.

• Interactive Consultations: Expect to engage in discussions about your writing. We will ask questions and encourage you to think critically about your work.

4. Be Clear About Your Goals:

• Know What You Want to Work On: Identify specific aspects of your paper you'd like help with, such as thesis clarity, argument development, organization, or grammar.
• Prioritize Issues: If there's limited time, focus on the most critical areas of concern rather than expecting a full paper review.

5. Be Open to Feedback:

• Constructive Criticism: Be ready to receive constructive criticism. The goal is to improve your writing, and sometimes that requires rethinking sections or rewriting.
• Learning Focus: Focus on learning how to improve rather than just fixing immediate issues. Use the feedback to enhance your long-term writing skills.

6. Respect Our Staff:

• Professionalism: Be courteous and respectful toward our staff and tutors. They are there to help but can only do so if you are cooperative and engaged.
• Be Punctual: Arrive on time for your appointments to maximize the effectiveness of your session.

7. Understand Plagiarism and Academic Integrity:

• We Do Not Work on Plagiarized Content: We only work with you on original content that you have developed yourself. If we suspect that part of your work is plagiarized, we cannot assist you further with that portion. Ensure your work follows academic honesty guidelines before bringing it in.
• Avoiding Unintentional Plagiarism: Always ensure that any sources you use are properly cited. If you're unsure about paraphrasing or citation, we can guide you on how to do this correctly.
