The Office of Research and Graduate Studies at the College of Law at Qatar University (QU) organized a series of academic activities aimed at providing graduate students with an interactive platform to showcase their research projects while strengthening their debate, analytical, and critical thinking skills.\

The program featured a research poster exhibition for master's students, alongside two legal debates addressing contemporary issues, including the ethical boundaries of academic freedom in research and the balance between national security requirements and the protection of personal data and individual freedoms.\

The events also formed part of the graduation requirements for the College's graduate programs.

The College marked the conclusion of the Fall 2025 semester by holding the defenses of twelve master's theses in Public Law and Private Law. The theses addressed a range of contemporary legal issues at both the national and international levels. Research in Public Law addressed matters such as the criminal policy of the Qatari legislator, guarantees of rights and freedoms, liability for liberty-restricting measures, the legal framework of humanitarian intervention, and the legal challenges posed by cybercrime amidst rapid technological developments.\

Some theses also focused on Administrative and Constitutional Law topics, particularly the governing principles of administrative contracts, the limits of administrative intervention in economic activity, and the study of fundamental laws within Qatar's legal system using a comparative approach to enhance understanding of the constitutional and regulatory structure of national legislation.\

As for theses in Private Law, they focused on issues closely linked to the economic and investment landscape, including the protection of creditors' rights, civil liability and compensation for economic damages, market competition regulation, and legal challenges related to banking guarantees, acquisition of real estate ownership, and the role of specialized courts and mediation mechanisms in resolving commercial and investment disputes.\

These theses were defended before specialized academic committees composed of esteemed faculty members from the college, enriching the academic discussions and ensuring rigorous evaluation of the research work based on standards of originality, methodology, and sound analysis. These discussions represented a critical milestone in the academic journey of the students, being a core requirement for graduation in the master's programs.\

The college also witnessed the defense of a doctoral dissertation by researcher Khalid Fahad Al-Mohannadi, which analyzed the extent to which Qatari criminal legislation aligns with the international legal framework for combating the financing of terrorism. It involved an analysis of relevant international conventions and globally adopted standards, comparing them with national legislation, and concluded with high-impact academic and practical findings and recommendations.\

The discussion sessions were attended by a number of graduate students and faculty members, providing an opportunity to foster a culture of research and academic dialogue within the college and affirming the prestigious academic standing of the College of Law and its role in preparing qualified legal researchers capable of contributing to the development of the legal system and addressing contemporary challenges.\
