About the Elections 2026

Student Affairs is organizing the elections for Student Representative Board at Qatar University 2024 (QUSRB) in its ninth cycle to allow students to vote democratically for the most qualified representative for each college.

The importance of the Board lies within the fact that it represents the students of Qatar University and functions as a mediator between the students, faculty members, and QU administration. The Board also helps to serve the interest of the students by collaborating with the administration in decision-making. The total number of QUSRB members is 84, distributed in the following manner by college and gender:

Conditions of Nomination

Any undergraduate student enrolled at Qatar University is eligible to run for board election, provided he/she fulfills the following criteria at the time of the election:

Positions in Student Organizations

Once elected to QUSRB, the elected members shall resign from any chairmanship position they held previously in any student organization. Moreover, they are not eligible to run for any position in other student organizations.

Condition of running for the Board Presidency

To run for the Board Presidency, the applicant must be a Qatari National.

By-election of College Board Membership

Election of College Board Organizational Structure

The organizational structure of each College Board, which is composed of the President, the Secretary and the Treasurer, shall be elected within one week after the election of the members of the College Board and overseen by the Board and its coordinator with the assistance of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs.

By-election of Executive Committee

In case of a vacancy in the Executive Committee, the priority shall be given for the completion of the executive committee term rather than holding by-elections of the College Board. The candidacy shall be open for 24 hours, and the elections shall be held in accordance with Article (24).

Appealing the Election Results

In the event of contesting the election results, an electronic appeal may be filed through the self-service system one week after the announcement of the results.

Elections Campaigns Rules

Elections campaigns start on Wednesday, 14 February 2024 and end on Sunday, 3 March 2024. Every candidate is responsible for his/her own election campaign ONLINE; we welcome innovative and creative ideas.

Design Posters

  1. Each candidate has the right to create his own poster, and may contain the following:

  2. Full name

  3. College he or she will be representing
  4. Personal picture
  5. Email or Facebook address or Twitter account (not essential)
  6. Message(s) to voters

  7. You may post your posters in the social media accounts.

  8. Every candidate has the right to design brochures or flyers that contains information about the plans and messages to voters.
  9. Every candidate has the right to do a short video for his/her message to the voters of his/her college.

Please note the following:

  1. Don’t use offensive language on the poster.
  2. Don’t use personal contact numbers on the poster.

Penalties:

The Elections Committee has the right to take the appropriate action which may lead to dismissal of the applicant nomination, in case of violating any of the following:

Steps for Nomination

Those who are willing to contribute to the advancement of Qatar University and benefit the students can review the QUSRB bylaws conditions of membership and nominate themselves through the myBanner Self-Service System as follows:

  1. Go to myBanner Self-Service System
  2. Click on Student Services tab
  3. Click on Student Voting System
  4. Click on Electronic Nomination Application
  5. Read the instructions carefully
  6. Submit your nomination application

How to Vote?

We encourage all undergraduate students to participate in the 2024 Colleges and QUSRB Boards Elections and vote for the candidates who they believe would better represent their views and interests.

All undergraduate students who are currently enrolled at QU have the opportunity to participate in the voting process via myBanner Self-Service System. Voting will start on Tuesday, 5 March, 2024 at 8:00 AM and continues till Wednesday, 6 March, 2024 at 8:00 AM.

How to Vote?

  1. Go to myBanner Self-Service System
  2. Click on Student Services
  3. Click on Student Voting system
  4. Specify the candidates you chose
  5. Click Submit
  6. Confirm your choice
