Scholarships

University of Tsukuba offers a wide range of scholarship programs for international students.

Programs for government-funded students

There are two types of Japanese government (MEXT) scholarships:Embassy Recommendation and University Recommendation.

Programs for privately financed students

Several options are available. These include the Tsukuba Scholarship and scholarships offered by private companies and organizations. These scholarships are divided into two types: those requiring a university recommendation (which can only be applied for after enrollment) and those allowing direct application to the scholarship foundation.

Additional Financial Support

If you are facing financial difficulties in paying tuition, there are options available for waivers of admission and tuition fees. While you must go through an application and selection process that will require a certain level of academic performance, these options can significantly reduce the financial barriers to higher education.

Tutor System

To ensure a smooth entry into your new academic and daily life, we offer individualized support through our tutor system. Each international student will be paired with a Japanese student tutor who will provide comprehensive assistance.

What you can consult your tutor:

Campus orientation: Get guidance on navigating the campus and its facilities
Administrative procedures: Receive support for necessary procedures at the city hall.
Daily life assistance: Seek help with shopping and finding accommodation.

Student Counseling

The International Student Counseling Room is dedicated to supporting all international students. Our advisors are available to provide guidance in English and Japanese on a wide range of issues, including academic issues and private matters. Please feel free to reach out for assistance whenever needed.

Japanese Language Courses

At the Center for Education of Global Communication (CEGLOC), we provide tailored Japanese language education for international students. Our comprehensive support ranges from basic Japanese necessary for daily life to advanced proficiency required for employment at Japanese companies. We offer personalized assistance to meet your specific goals and needs.
