In the event of a typhoon, earthquake, or other natural disaster or when a warning has been announced, all classes and examinations (including regular, supplementary, and re-examinations: referred to below as “classes”) will be handled according to the directions to be given to students, as indicated below.

In the Event That a Storm or Gale Warning or Another Special Warning for Nagoya City is Issued

If a storm or gale warning or another special warning for Nagoya City is announced by the Japan Meteorological Agency, classes and other activities scheduled to begin after the warning has been announced will be canceled. However, if the warning is subsequently lifted, classes will be held as outlined in the table below.

Class operation after a storm or another special warning has been lifted

Warning cancelled before 6:45 am Classes commence 1st period
Warning cancelled before 11:00 am Classes commence 3rd period

If you are already on campus when a storm or gale warning is announced, go home before the situation worsens. If you are on your way to campus when a storm or gale warning is announced, return home. As a general rule, ICT-based online classes, etc., will not be canceled. In these cases, please check the statuses of the classes on the lecture websites and TACT. Check the website of the Japan Meteorological Agency, which is updated frequently.

In the Event of an Earthquake or Fire

If an earthquake or other disaster occurs during class, calmly assess the situation and the scale of the earthquake or disaster, and take all necessary steps to protect yourself. Following the class cancellation, comply with the instructions of the class instructor, and go to the designated temporary evacuation area. After evacuating, follow the instructions given by the University.

In the Event that Nankai Trough Earthquake Advisory is released

If the announcement of a Nankai Trough Earthquake Advisory occurs, please follow the instructions of the university regarding the organization of classes, returning home, etc., while also ensuring your safety by staying abreast of the situation. Please keep up to date with information as additions or revisions may be made to the response policy.

In the Event of any other disaster or risk of disaster

If it is deemed difficult to hold classes for any other reason, a decision will be made on whether or not to cancel the classes. In such cases, relevant information will be posted on the University website and/or TACT.
