【Event Report】JIGE 2025 Global Doctoral Colloquium

On Saturday, November 8 (9:00–11:00 a.m. JST), Tohoku University hosted the JIGE 2025 Global Doctoral Colloquium online. Organized as part of the Japan Hub for Innovative Global Education (JIGE) project, the event brought together doctoral students and early-career researchers in the humanities and social sciences from JIGE’s overseas partner institutions and its three domestic partner universities—Tohoku University, Kansai University, and Chiba University.

Approximately 15 participants engaged in vibrant academic exchange under the common theme “Cosmopolitanism and Nationalism in a Changing World: Exploring Collaborative Pathways across the Humanities and Social Sciences.” The colloquium served as an inspiring platform for sharing cutting-edge research and cultivating interdisciplinary dialogue that opened new avenues for collaboration.

The program was coordinated and moderated by Junna Minato, Research Associate at Tohoku University’s Global Learning Center, with opening and closing remarks delivered by Professor Yuki Watabe, Deputy Director of the Center.

Tohoku University remains committed to fostering intellectual exchange and strengthening research networks among the next generation of scholars through continued initiatives within the JIGE framework.
