【Report】Tohoku University held its STEM Research Internship Program (T-SRIP) in the summer of 2025
The Global Learning Center (GLC), Tohoku University welcomed 23 students from leading partner universities, University of California, University of Washington and The Pennsylvania State University, in the United States in the summer of 2025 and conducted a six-week Tohoku University STEM Research Internship Program (T-SRIP).
\ Participants were assigned to laboratories according to their preferences and, under the guidance of their supervisors, engaged intensively in research activities gaining valuable practical experience.\ In addition to research activities, optional extracurricular activities to deepen their understanding of Japan were also offered. Those who wished to do so participated in Japanese language classes for beginners, various cultural experiences such as Japanese flower arrangement, and field trips related to the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011.\ Moreover, an online pre-arrival Japanese course was separately held, providing not only language learning but also a valuable opportunity to interact with Tohoku University students before the program began.
At the end of the program, the students summarized the results of their training and presented them in a poster session.
Through this program, the participants were able to gain a highly fulfilling and valuable experience by engaging in the online pre-arrival Japanese course, interacting with students, and participating in full-scale research activities at Tohoku University.
