!! Recruiting TUSTEM Leaders (2025 Fall Semester) !!
[What is TUSTEM?]
Tohoku University has many excellent STEM students, such as winners of the Science Olympics, from across the globe! However, interactions among the STEM students are unfortunately not active due to a heavy load of classes and laboratory work.
For enhancing interactions in the STEM student community, we have established a student international exchange organization, TUSTEM (Tohoku University STEM Student Network).
[Activities]
- Language Exchange
(at 6:30 pm-8:00 pm on 1st & 3rd Thursday, at Midori Dining in New Aobayama Campus)
Let’s enjoy conversations in both English and Japanese with dinner.
- Academic Dinner (held irregularly)
at usually 6:30 pm -8 pm at Aobayama Commons \ Students give presentation in English about their research under casual atmosphere.
- Weekend Activity (held irregularly)
We organize both social and academic events.
Social events: Potluck party, Barbecue, Fireworks, Picnic, IMONI, Trip to Zao, etc.
Academic events: Coffee with specialists around the globe.
[Job Description of TUSTEM Leader]
- To prepare and organize events
We organize (plan) events to promote interactions among TUSTEM members.
e.g., Planning events among leaders, booking venues, advertising and organizing/facilitating events.

- To help university's events/activities for international students in various programs as a (student) administrative assistant (AA)*
e.g., Assisting the pre-enrollment education for FGL prospective students,
various program activities and final presentation sessions by international
students in degree programs, exchange programs, summer schools, etc.
| Requirements for TUSTEM leader | No specific skill is required to become a TUSTEM leader. However, you must have the motivation and show commitment and responsibility for the job. e.g., Attending meetings and events as much as possible, and being responsive promptly to TUSTEM leader's SNS. |

A TUSTEM leader will be hired as an Administrative Assistant (AA) of Tohoku University and may be paid by the university when you assist a university's event as a TUSTEM leader.
Here are the employment conditions as an AA.
| Employment Duration | Oct. 1, 2025 – Mar. 31, 2026 (The employment contract will be renewed every semester.) |
| Hourly wage | 1,160-1,320 yen/hour for the 2025 fiscal year (It may be subjected to be changed.) |
