January 14, 2026 【Report】Coffee Event with Prof. Hideo Ohno – An Inspiring Dialogue on Leadership, Research, and the Future of Tohoku University
On 14 January 2025, the Tohoku University STEM Network (TUSTEM) hosted a special Coffee Event featuring Prof. Hideo Ohno, the former President of Tohoku University and a world-renowned physicist in the field of spintronics. The event provided students with a valuable opportunity to learn directly from Prof. Ohno’s extensive experience as a researcher, educator, and university leader.

December 12, 2025 【Symposium Report】“Educational Diplomacy: Youth- led Intercultural Collaboration Towards Inclusive and Resilient Societies”
On 6 December 2025, Global Learning Centre of Tohoku University and the University of Sydney, with support from the Australia-Japan Foundation, held a symposium entitled “Educational Diplomacy: Youth- led Intercultural Collaboration Towards Inclusive and Resilient Societies”. This event brought young people together to explore the future of multicultural symbiosis through dialogue with a variety of speakers.

November 13, 2025 【Event Report】JIGE 2025 Global Doctoral Colloquium
On Saturday, November 8 (9:00–11:00 a.m. JST), Tohoku University hosted the JIGE 2025 Global Doctoral Colloquium online. Organized as part of the Japan Hub for Innovative Global Education (JIGE) project, the event brought together doctoral students and early-career researchers in the humanities and social sciences from JIGE’s overseas partner institutions and its three domestic partner universities—Tohoku University, Kansai University, and Chiba University.

September 29, 2025 【Report】Implemented a Social Co-creative International Collaborative Program with Oshu City.
In collaboration with Oshu City, the Global Learning Center conducted a social co-creative international collaborative learning program. This program was established as part of the Tohoku University Japanese Program (TUJP), a short-term program for international students. Before the field trip, preliminary study sessions were held with staff from Oshu City’s Tourism and Products Division (part of the Commerce, Industry, and Tourism Department), the Oshu Foundry Technology Exchange Center, and Esashi-Fujiwara Heritage Park. In these sessions, students learned about the geography and culture of Oshu City and were introduced to challenges for which the city sought their proposed solutions.

September 16, 2025 【Report】Tohoku University held its STEM Research Internship Program (T-SRIP) in the summer of 2025
The Global Learning Center (GLC), Tohoku University welcomed 23 students from leading partner universities, University of California, University of Washington and The Pennsylvania State University, in the United States in the summer of 2025 and conducted a six-week Tohoku University STEM Research Internship Program (T-SRIP).
