Engagement for impact
The Faculty of Arts connects academic expertise with real-world challenges. We work with industry, government, and communities to address local, national, and global challenges.
Our expertise spans humanities, social sciences, law, education, languages, and creative practices. We bring critical thinking, cultural insight, and deep understanding of human behaviour to complex challenges.
Ways to partner with us
Our approach to partnership is collaborative:
Humanities innovation labs are our flagship collaboration model for:
- working on the challenges shaping the next two to three decades
- understanding how those challenges play out differently for businesses, communities and individuals.
Labs are the engine room where we focus deeply on problems while connecting partners into networks that span sectors and disciplines (locally and internationally) to:
- scope problems
- build, test and improve ideas.

Our researchers apply cutting-edge insights to address the needs of organisations, businesses and our communities.
Our researchers work on challenges that:
- shape policy
- inform practice
- drive social, political and economic impact.
We collaborate through:
- research centres
- international partnerships
- industry-embedded graduate programs
- consultancy work that connects our expertise with community and organisational needs.

Our curriculum connects our partners with students, preparing them to build change.
We see our partners as more than ‘just’ places of work – we collaborate with them on shaping the future, and preparing students for that future.
We welcome:
- guest lectures
- course advisory board involvement
- opportunities for internships.
We also work with partners to co-design programs that align with where your sector is heading, producing graduates who can think critically about the challenges you’re facing (not just meet job descriptions that might not exist in three years). This includes shorter, agile ‘sprint’ projects where we bring our staff, partners and students to work on live problems.
One of our current projects examines how people think about and engage with AI: augmentation versus automation. We’ve tested our ideas with students in live classroom projects, observing how their thinking and approach to work changed as their AI capability and engagement developed. Our iterative testing informs the work we do with local and international organisations on AI adoption.
We offer executive education, including:
- microcredentials
- bespoke workshops
- masterclasses
- accredited programs.
Our Faculty has extensive experience in developing tailored professional education programs and organisational development strategies. We’ve worked across a range of sectors, designing and delivering learning in face to face, online and in hybrid modes.
We can work with you at any or all of the stages of professional development: from benchmarking and learning needs assessment, to curriculum development, to evaluation.
Professional development
We deliver a range of professional development, such as online training and masterclass workshops, with a broad range of clients including:
- government (eg Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade)
- commercial (eg Commonwealth Bank of Australia).
We welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can support your organisation’s learning and development objectives.
Organisational development
We offer bespoke organisational development programs that go beyond standard training. We work with you to understand your specific capability needs, then build educational and skills development programs that address them. This combines our:
- disciplinary expertise (across humanities, social sciences, law and education)
- practical experience leading pedagogy and implementing development programs across a range of organisations.
Get involved
Partner with us to shape the future. Whether you're facing questions about technology adoption, workforce development, or navigating societal change, we're interested in conversations about collaboration.
We work through research partnerships and consultancies, training programs, and collaborative problem-solving projects. The model is flexible: shaped by the challenge and the partners involved.
