## Advancing social, emotional and cognitive health

Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Research Centre brings the established strengths of the Centre for Emotional Health and the Centre for Ageing, Cognition and Wellbeing together with other interdisciplinary researchers.

### Shared vision

Our shared vision is to maximise psychological, social and cognitive health and wellbeing for all Australians regardless of age, background, or psychosocial advantage.

Poor psychosocial wellbeing – including psychological, cognitive and social health and wellbeing – can affect people across the lifespan, and the consequences are vast. To address these issues, a major shift in current approaches is needed. Our interdisciplinary approach seeks to address critical barriers that have impeded success so far.

### Strategic research priorities

Our current research priorities are:

- Mental health across the lifespan
- Ageing well
- Digital health

### Strategic objectives

Our research is seeking to:

- **increase our understanding** of the complex interactions among factors underlying psychological, social and cognitive health and wellbeing as well as risks to psychosocial health and wellbeing
- **develop cost-effective interventions** and practices to foster, protect and repair disruptions to psychological, social and cognitive health and wellbeing
- **improve the translation of knowledge** into practice and promote legal and policy reform for maximum impact across all age groups, settings (eg families, educational, workplaces, health services, primary care, aged care and community) and contexts (CALD, intergenerational, life transitions, carers, and health conditions like dementia and chronic illness)
- **transform** the way individuals, families, communities, clinicians and organisations access information to assist them to manage threats to wellbeing.
