## Learn where and how you can park on campus
Macquarie University Wallumattagal Campus has more than 4500 parking spaces available, in a variety of zones, across 14 car parks.
Our carparks feature:
- accessible parking spaces
- free motorcycle and motor scooter parking areas
- short-term drop off and pick up areas near our Sport and Aquatic Centre and childcare centres.
**Note:** Macquarie Hospital parking is managed separately. [See hospital parking information](https://www.mqhealth.org.au/patients-and-visitors/preparing-for-hospital/onsite-facilities#parking).
The University operates under a Restricted Parking Scheme and parking infringement fees apply to drivers using campus carparks without payment or contrary to the [parking rules](https://www.mq.edu.au/about/locations/parking/rules-infringements).
### How can I tell where the vacant car spaces are right now?
The dynamic signage on campus shows how many bays are available, you can also check in real time via this link [https://vpermit.com.au/parkavail/mq](https://vpermit.com.au/parkavail/mq "MU Car Park Availability")
### Payment options
We cater for students, staff and visitors by offering a range of payment options, including traditional ticket machines, virtual permits and online or app pay as you go (PAYG) casual parking.
#### Ticketless parking
Most of our parking is now ticketless. We use licence plate recognition technology so you no longer need to display a ticket or permit.
Payment is made by credit card after registering online or via app for PAYG parking. A virtual permit (vPermit) is also available to purchase online, for those who regularly visit the university to work or study.
PAYG parking for the Sport and Aquatic Centre is:
- free for two hours for members
- discounted for casual visitors who register a licence plate at reception.
#### Ticket machines
Casual visitors who don’t wish to register for PAYG parking can use the traditional pay-and-display ticket machines available at our **West 3, West 4 and West 5** carparks.
