About

Established in 2012, the X-ray Center for Material Analysis played a key role in supporting research, community engagement, and technology transfer at the University of Sharjah (UoS). It built a strong reputation through quality research outputs, technical workshops, expert visits, student projects, and collaborations with national and international agencies.

In 2014, following a strategic shift in the university's research priorities, the center was restructured and renamed to the Center for Advanced Materials Research (CAMR) to align with UoS’s evolving vision and expanded research goals in materials science.

Vision

The vision of CAMR is to achieve excellence in materials science research and education, by combining local resources and expertise, in order to provide solutions to complex technical challenges in material design and identification. We envision to unite foundational research with applied innovation, creating simplified yet high-performing materials, training, and translating discoveries into impactful solutions.

Mission

The Center for Advanced Materials Research (CAMR) is dedicated to advancing materials research, education, and outreach by leveraging state-of-the-art analytical techniques for the characterization and development of innovative materials. By integrating local expertise with interdisciplinary collaboration, CAMR supports high-impact research aligned with national and societal priorities, particularly in energy, environment, health, and cultural heritage. \ CAMR strives to build research capacity through shared facilities, strategic partnerships with academia and industry, and the continuous development of skilled scientists and engineers. The center also aspires to promote inclusive scientific training and public engagement, so contributing to a stronger, more diversified pipeline of science and engineering professionals.
