Department Overview
The University of Sharjah (UoS) recognizes the need to manage risks at the strategic and operational levels to maintain and enhance excellence. The Office of Risk Management (ORM) was established to develop the University’s capability to manage and understand the causes and effects of risks on running its operations, delivering its services, managing different stakeholders’ interests and timely meeting strategic goals and objectives. The ORM build the University’s resilience and capacity to withstand potential disruption. The Office assessments and analyses support informed strategic decisions-making, enhance long-term planning and sustainability and underpin the development of the University’s governance.\ \ The Office of Risk Management plays a critical role in promoting healthy self-criticism within the University of Sharjah (UoS) to review its priorities, plans and the need for new directions and projects to meet its objectives. The Office leverages the institution’s ability to proactively manage the potential upsides of opportunities to deliver enterprise value and limit the downsides of threats to protect it, while fostering a secure and stable environment for students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders. By integrating risk management into the University’s strategic and operational framework, the UoS enhances its ability to create a secure, compliant, and forward-thinking academic institution.
