Admission Requirements for Ph.D. programs

1. The student must hold a master’s degree with a minimum grade of “Very Good” (3.0 out of 4.0) and a bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade of “Good” (2.5 out of 4.0) or equivalent from a university, college, or institute recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education.
2. The student must meet the English language proficiency requirement
3. Passing the personal interview.
4. Submission of a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the authorities responsible for national service for male Emirati students.
5. Submission of a letter of study approval from the Kuwaiti Embassy Cultural Office (for Kuwaiti students only).
6. Submission of a People of Determination card (if applicable).
7. If the student is employed, a letter from the employer stating that the student is currently working for this agency must be attached.

8. Individuals with foreign qualifications must provide a Certificate of Equivalency.

9. Special requirement for Doctor of Business Administration program:\ The student should have a minimum of 5 years of work experience\  Applicants with non-business degrees or insufficient foundational knowledge in business may be required to complete remedial MBA courses, such as Research Methods and Statistics, Accounting for Managerial Decisions, Managing Strategy, Leadership, and Organizational Behavior.\ Applicants meeting the above requirements will be required to sit for a written examination conducted by the DBA Admission Committee.\ Final admission decisions will be based on the results of the written examination. The top-performing candidates will be admitted to the program based on the number of available seats.\ Other university-specific requirements may apply.\ \ Application Deadline and Exam Date for the Fall 2026-2027\ • All applications for Fall 2026–2027 must be submitted by April 30, 2027. Late submissions will not be accepted.\ • The written examination will be held on May 10, 2027, at the University of Sharjah.\ *Written Examination Policy *• The written examination is designed to assess applicants’ readiness for advanced research and study in the DBA program. The exam is 1 hour long, and no specific preparation is required. It will be paper-based and conducted in person at the University of Sharjah.\ • Applicants will receive an official invitation to the email address provided in their application, including the exact time and location. It is the applicant’s responsibility to check their email and attend the examination on time.\ • All applicants must present a valid government-issued ID at the examination hall. Late arrivals (more than 15 minutes after the start) will not be allowed to take the exam, and no extra time will be provided. \ • Failure to attend the examination will result in disqualification, and makeup exams will not be allowed under any circumstances.\ • To ensure fairness, the exam will be graded by two faculty members using a double-blind process, and the average of the two grades will determine the candidate’s final score.\ • Written examination results are final, and applicants may not request a review of their performance.\

Admission Requirements for Master programs

1. The student must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university with a CGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00.
2. Students with a CGPA between 2.5 and 2.99 may be admitted conditionally.
3. The degree must be in a major that qualifies the student to study the master's program.
4. Students must meet the English language proficiency requirement.
5. Attachment of ‘no objection of study certificate’ from the authorities responsible for national service for male Emirati students (ages from 18 to 30 years old).
6. Attachment of a letter of study approval from the Kuwait Embassy Cultural Office for Kuwaiti students only.
7. Attachment of People of Determination card (if applicable).
8. In case the student works in a certain place, please attach a letter from the employer stating that the student is working for this agency.

9. For individuals with foreign qualifications, it is necessary to provide a Certificate of Equivalency.

10. Special admission requirements for master’s in dental medicine programs:\

11. Having a minimum of one-year work experience, after successfully completing the internship or its foreign equivalent.\
12. Applicants may be requested to attend an interview session and may be required to sit for a written and/or practical test.\
13. Accepted students must provide at the beginning of the program, proof of “resident” license from the Ministry of Health, or at least “in process” application.

Admission Requirements for Higher Diploma Programs

• The student must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university with a CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00.
• The degree must be in a major that qualifies the student to study the postgraduate diploma program.
• Passing the personal interview.
• Attachment of ‘no objection certificate’ from the authorities responsible for national service for male Emirati students.
• Attachment of a letter of study approval from the Kuwait Embassy Cultural Office for Kuwaiti students only.
• Attachment of People of Determination card (if applicable).
• In case the student works in a certain place, please attach a letter from the employer stating that the student is working for this agency.

Admission Tests For New Students in PhD

The student must meet the English language proficiency requirement as follows:

• For programs taught in English, a score of 550 in TOEFL (ITP) (or its equivalent), or 6 in IELTS English exam must be obtained.
• For some programs taught in Arabic such as Ph.D. in Private Law, Ph.D. in Public Law, and Ph.D. in Applied Sociology, a score of 450 in TOEFL (ITP) (or its equivalent), or 4.5 in IELTS must be obtained, or students must study and pass an English language course (ESL – 0 C.H.) in their first semester. For other programs taught in Arabic, English language proficiency is not required.

Exemptions:

• Students whose native language is English and studied a bachelor’s or master’s program in a country where English is the official language are exempt from the English language proficiency requirement.
• Students who graduated from a university where English is the language of instruction are also exempt from the English language proficiency requirement provided that they obtained a minimum score of 500 in TOEFL (ITP) (or its equivalent) or 5.0 in IELTS upon enrolling in the bachelor’s program, and 550 in TOEFL (ITP) (or its equivalent), or 6 in IELTS upon joining the master’s program.
• Students who are applying to Ph.D. in Private Law, Ph.D. in Public Law, or Ph.D. in Applied Sociology and have either obtained a score of 4.5 on the IELTS (or its equivalent) or successfully completed an ESL course, during their Master studies, are exempt from the English proficiency test.

The exam is offered only by the University of Sharjah, AMIDEAST Dubai, and the Abu Dhabi head offices.

• The University of Sharjah reserves the right to require students to attend an interview at the Language Institute. Students may also be required to take an additional in-house test to ensure their scores align with their English language proficiency.

Admission Tests For New Students in Masters

• Students must meet the English language proficiency requirement as follows:

• For programs taught in English, a score of 550 in TOEFL (ITP) (or its equivalence), or 6 in IELTS must be obtained.

• For some programs taught in Arabic such as master’s in applied Sociology, master’s in public law and master’s in applied Sociology, a score of 450 in TOEFL (ITP) (or its equivalent), or 4.5 in IELTS must be obtained, or students must study and pass an English language course (ESL – 0 C.H.) in their first semester. For other programs taught in Arabic, English language proficiency is not required.

• Native English speakers are exempt from the English proficiency requirement if the language of instruction for their undergraduate studies was English. Additionally, students who graduated from academic institutions where English is used as the primary medium of instruction for bachelor’s studies are also exempt.

* The exam offered by the University of Sharjah, AMIDEAST Dubai, and Abu Dhabi head offices only. 

• The UoS reserves the right to require students to attend an interview in the Languages Institute. Students may be required to take a further in-house test to ensure their scores are consistent with their English Language proficiency.

The admission for Fall 2026/2027 for (Doctor of Philosophy in Dental Sciences) program is open until08-March-2026

For all other PhD Programs, the admission is open until 31-May-2026.

The admission for Fall 2026/2027 is open until 08-March-2026 for the following master programs:

3. Master of Dental Surgery in Periodontology
4. Master of Dental Surgery in Prosthodontics
5. Master of Dental Surgery in Orthodontics
6. Master of Dental Surgery in Pediatric Dentistry

For all other master programs, the admission is open until 31-May-2026

• Bachelors CGPA 3.60 and above (for Master students).
• Masters & Bachelors CGPA 3.60 and above (for PhD students).
• The Student should only work in the university and should not work somewhere else.
• Any Remedial courses are not covered.
• The Master and Ph.D. students are required to work 20h per week.
• (All is according to the Bylaws and Regulations of the University)
• The Concerned Department has the right to elect whom it sees fit for the scholarship
