## Department Overview

**Our international collaboration is promoted through a wide range of activities with the aims to:**

- Be a world-class leading university through international cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary
  academic programs, which attracts and inspires scholars and students in the UAE and across the globe.
- Establish strategic global alliances with renowned international institutions in academia and research.

Support collaboration and exchange with leading institutions, and continuous improvement of UOS performance in
world's leading university ranking systems.

**Our Policies:**

- The Office of International Relations is the strategic platform for coordinating the efforts of the units,
  offices, and colleges at the University of Sharjah in establishing and advancing international
  collaborations and partnerships with partner universities and institutions worldwide. OIR will help UoS
  faculty and staff prepare agreements and manage approvals for international collaborations that are
  pertinent to the internationalization of their research and personal development.
- OIR will support the colleges and departments in identifying and engaging in joint and dual academic
  programs at graduate and undergraduate levels with partner universities in response to the emerging
  internationalization of academic programs. OIR will also forge strategic research partnerships to promote
  the globalization of our research institutes and research centers by connecting UoS researchers with their
  peers from our global network of alliances.
- OIR will also facilitate and create opportunities for international exchange and mobility of students,
  faculty, and staff. The inbound and outbound mobility programs will be an excellent opportunity for UoS and
  its global partners to cooperate in promoting their mutual priority research areas and raise their global
  standards.

**OIR seeks to:**

- Position the University of Sharjah (UoS) among the world's leading research and educational institutions
  through strong international alliances and partnerships, to support collaboration and exchange with leading
  institutions, and continuous improvement of its performance in world's leading university ranking systems.
- Enhance the international visibility of the UoS in the global research and educational area by collaborating
  and building sustainable international cooperation in education and research with reputable international
  institutions. OIR will act as an interface between targeted international institutions and UoS internal
  entities to facilitate the execution of existing agreements and the development of strategic new agreements.
- Enhance the competitiveness of the UoS among the world's leading research and educational institutions and
  improve its performance in world's leading university ranking systems (QS, THE World University Ranking,
  etc.).
