Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s College of Health and Life Sciences Hosts Student Research Forum
The College of Health and Life Sciences’ (CHLS) Student Research Forum convened students, faculty, and researchers to exchange ideas and present initiatives advancing national priorities in biomedical sciences, genomics, precision medicine, exercise science, biopsychology, and neuroscience.
Through oral and poster presentations, students demonstrated their ability to conduct comprehensive studies, analyze data, and effectively communicate work, reflecting the College’s emphasis on translating research into meaningful outcomes to address clinical issues. Selected projects were also awarded.
Additionally, presentations by faculty members and partner institutions offered insights into ongoing programs, emerging methodologies, and pathways for integrating scientific discovery into applicable impact. By engaging with experienced scholars, students were exposed to the latest practices and gained a deeper understanding of how academic inquiry contributes to health systems, policy development, and innovation.
Dr. Markus Wenk, Dean, CHLS, commented: “Research is critical to advancing science and improving healthcare and is a foundational element of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). We were pleased to provide our students with a platform to showcase their work, exchange ideas, and interact with experts, strengthening their capabilities. The displays further reflect our commitment to addressing crucial health challenges and shaping informed policymaking in Qatar and beyond.”
The forum continues to serve as a cornerstone initiative for strengthening capability within CHLS, underscoring the role of academia in driving progress and reinforcing the University’s contribution to long-term health and scientific priorities.

Testimonials
Even though I’m not from a biological science background, the faculty of CHLS have helped me learn, discover, navigate and successfully complete my Master’s in Genomics and Precision Medicine. Their perseverance, dedication, and most essentially their willingness to guide and assist students individually has helped keep us going!
Zeenath Safira
PhD in Genomics and Precision Medicine, CHLS
This is my second year as a master’s student in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences program. Throughout these two years, I have learned and gained a lot of experience and skills. I had the opportunity to gain exposure to various aspects of the biomedical field, thanks to our college’s continuous expansion. Not to mention that the staff and members of CHLS are helpful, understanding, and giving. The least I can do is to thank CHLS for giving me the opportunity to be part of their community.
