## Overview

The **Student Success Services** at Hamad Bin Khalifa University is committed to providing high-quality academic support to undergraduate students. The Peer Tutor Program is aligned **with the College Reading and Learning Association** [**CRLA**](https://www.crla.net/), an international organization dedicated to promoting excellence in tutoring and student support.

HBKU’s Peer Tutor Program offers professional development opportunities for tutors while enhancing student learning outcomes.

## Benefits of CRLA Certification

Develop enhanced tutoring, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.

Gain a recognized credential to enhance your resume and LinkedIn profile.

Build confidence in supporting students’ academic growth and success.

Serve as a mentor and role model for other tutors.

## Level 1: Certification Requirements

- **Active Employment as a Peer Tutor** within HBKU Student Success Services.
- **Complete 10 Hours of Training** in foundational online modules, workshops, and mentoring sessions.
- **25 Hours of Tutoring Experience** within the same academic year.
- **Supervision and Evaluation** with supervisors to reflect on tutoring practices and receive feedback.

## Level 2: Certification Requirements

- **Completion of Level 1 Certification** is a prerequisite.
- **An additional 10 Hours** of Advanced Training in strategies, leadership, and mentoring skills.
- **50 hours of Tutoring Experience,** including Level 1 hours, demonstrating consistent application of advanced skills.
- **Ongoing Supervision and Peer Mentoring:** reflective discussions, peer observations, and case reviews to refine tutoring expertise.
