The QCRI Creative Space Summer Camp 2024 is an exciting opportunity for children aged 6 to 15 years old to learn in a fun environment.
This year, our camp is offering seven enriching programs, with a range of workshops. Children will engage in activities geared towards teaching coding, electronics, and computational thinking, with the aim of fostering creativity, innovation, problem-solving, and teamwork.
The courses offered are:
Exploring micro:bit
Students from 9 to 12 years old will learn how to program electronics using the BBC micro:bit, a microprocessor designed specifically to teach programming through physical computing.

Exploring Robotics with Wedo 2.0
Students aged 6 to 8 years old will learn the basics of robotics building and programming using Lego's Wedo 2.0. They will discover how engineering and programming work together to make exciting creations.

3D Modeling and Laser Cutting
Students aged 12 to 15 years old will learn the basics of 3D modeling and printing using Tinkercad, an online 3D design tool. They will also learn how to use the laser cutter to make their own personalized objects.

Movie Making
Students aged 12 to 15 years old will learn how to create movies using their phones or tablets. They will learn the basic theoretical and practical aspects of movie-making including storyboarding, scripting, shooting, and editing.

Sphero
Students aged 6 to 8 years old will develop critical thinking, teamwork, and coding skills, leveraging the Sphero BOLT robot. They will be able to demonstrate proficiency with the drawing canvas and know how to use block programs to manipulate lights and sounds and create loops and conditionals.

Makey Makey
Students aged 9 to 12 will develop their own inventions using the Makey Makey microcontroller along with household items, developing their innovation, engineering, and critical thinking skills.

Smart App Development
Students aged 12 to 15 years old will learn the basics of AI and machine learning and will develop a smart mobile app that employs collective intelligence. Basic knowledge of block coding and App Inventor is required.
