# Qatari Faculty Development Fellowship Program

Qatari Faculty Development Fellowship Program (QFDFP) is designed to support eligible
and highly qualified Qatari nationals to undertake or complete the academic qualifications
necessary (post-graduate or post-doctoral) in preparation for a career in academia,
specifically at HBKU.

In exchange for providing support during the time it takes to complete their preparation,
the recipient of a QFDFP award must agree to serve in an appropriate faculty position at HBKU,
at a college or research institute relevant to their line of work, for a period no less than
twice the time they were supported by HBKU for training.

## Application Process

Applicants should send a single email that includes the following materials to the
Office of the Provost at Hamad Bin Khalifa University at [provost@hbku.edu.qa](mailto:provost@hbku.edu.qa), the email
should also include all relevant documents except for the 3 letters of reference which
should be sent directly by the academic mentors or teachers to the abovementioned email address.

Please submit applications by May 31, 2025, for full consideration, however, applications
may be accepted at other times pending the availability of openings.

## The application materials should include

Applicant’s CV.

Detailed personal statement describing:

- The applicant’s career goals.
- Their interest in pursuing an academic career.
- Their research experience, interests, and aims (with reasonable detail).
- Their rationale for applying to this program.
- The reason they want to enter into a faculty position at HBKU.
- Which college or research institute at HBKU they wish to join.

Degrees Transcripts

Copy of transcripts and degrees awarded (where relevant) for each college and university attended,
including their undergraduate and any graduate studies undertaken.

Copy of letter

- For Track 1: Copy of acceptance letter to a postdoctoral training opportunity at a reputable and research excellent international university.
- For Track 2: Copy of letter of admission to a doctoral program (or master’s program) at an accredited higher
  education institution outside Qatar recognized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar in a
  discipline related to one of the HBKU colleges or research institutes. Only in exceptional circumstances will
  a fellowship be provided for Master’s training.

Copy of Qatari Passport or national ID.

Any supplementary material the applicant believes relevant, such as copies of publications or a thesis.

The applicant should also arrange to have 3 letters of reference from academic mentors and teachers sent directly to the above email address.
