First Year Seminars
The First-Year Experience/Orientation (FYE/O) is a blended program designed to equip you with all the essential information you need to succeed at UJ. The program combines in-person sessions with online, self-paced modules, ensuring you have the flexibility and resources to thrive in your studies and university life.

National Benchmark Test (NBT)
The National Benchmark Test (NBT) is a standardized assessment designed to measure a student’s academic readiness for university-level studies in South Africa. It evaluates key competencies in academic literacy, quantitative literacy, and mathematics, providing universities with additional insight into applicants’ skills beyond their school results.
ECSA Professional Registration
The ECSA Professional Registration is a formal process overseen by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) to recognize individuals as competent engineering professionals. This registration ensures that engineers, technologists, and technicians meet the required standards of knowledge, skills, and ethical conduct to practice within the engineering field.
TechnoLab
The Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at the University of Johannesburg’s TechnoLab suited at Auckland Park Kingsway Campus is dedicated to raising technology knowledge and literacy among students of all ages. We endeavor to deliver high-quality technology workshops to all potential students, whether in school and older.

Is a University of Johannesburg (UJ) training and development company focused on bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world industry needs. It provides a platform for students, graduates, and professionals to gain hands-on experience through applied research, product development, prototyping, and technical training.
More About Us
The Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment (FEBE) is one of seven faculties in the University of Johannesburg. It offers both Engineering Technology and Engineering Science undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across 12 departments under five Schools. In keeping with the University’s comprehensive status, the Faculty is the first in South Africa to offer global education to a full range of professional engineering qualifications.
FEBE remains a leading provider of well-qualified engineers, engineering technologists and technicians. Programmes are appropriately accredited by recognised national and international bodies or accords.
