We are pleased to announce that the Autumn 2026 ceremonies will take place from the 2nd of March 2026 till the 12th of June 2026. The ceremonies will be held at the UJ Auditorium on the Auckland Park, Kingsway Campus.

Dear UJ Graduate,

Congratulations on your achievement!

UJ administers a Graduate Employability Survey each year and now that you are a graduate, you can complete the 2026 UJ Graduate Employability Survey. If you are self-employed, studying, or unemployed, we would still like you to complete the survey.

This 5–10-minute survey helps the University understand the employability of UJ graduates. All responses are anonymous and confidential, and participation is voluntary. Stand a chance to win Takealot vouchers at the value of R500 for a completed survey.

Candidates must ensure that your active email address is updated with UJ Biographics.

Graduation letters will be emailed to all candidates who complied to graduate by 30 January 2026.

eTickets will be emailed to you a week prior to your ceremony.

If you have complied to graduate by 31 December 2025 you will be included in the Autumn 2026 ceremonies which take place 02 March 2026 – 12 June 2026.  Letters will be emailed by 30 January 2026.

If you have not received your letter and are sure that you complied to be in the Autumn 2026 ceremonies, please contact your Faculty/ School/ College administration staff for further clarification.

CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 7 ARE NOT PERMITTED INTO THE VENUE, PROOF MAY BE REQUIRED FOR VERIFICATION.

KINDLY REFRAIN FROM BRINGING CHILDREN AND BABIES TO THE VENUE. THERE ARE NO SUITABLE FACILITIES CATERING FOR BABIES AND CHILDREN.

E-TICKET

All graduates will receive one e-ticket, which is valid for the graduate and three guests, except for doctoral candidates, who are allowed five guests. The e-ticket will be sent to you via email a week prior to your respective ceremony.

Doors to the graduation venue will close 10 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Graduates and guests must arrive at least an hour before the ceremony and be seated no later than 15 minutes before the ceremony.

No late graduates or guests will be allowed entry once the doors are closed.

FEES, DOCUMENTS, OR LIBRARY FINES OUTSTANDING

All outstanding fees, library fines, or outstanding documents must be submitted 8 weeks before the season commences. The onus is on graduates with outstanding matters to confirm that payment has been received by student finances, to inform the faculty of the payment made, or to ensure that your faculty have received any outstanding documents.

Should outstanding fees not be settled, you will still be allowed to attend the ceremony, walk across the stage, and take photos; however, your certificate and academic record will be withheld.

If, for whatever reason, you do not qualify for the conferment of the qualification, the University reserves the right to cancel the invitation.

PERSONAL DETAILS

By law, your certificate must reflect your full name exactly as recorded on your identity document or passport. The onus is on you, the graduate, to ensure the accuracy of the information at UJ Student Biographics so that all official documentation reflects the correct information.  Any change in biographical details must be submitted well in advance to ensure that graduation certificates are issued with the corrected information. Certificates for 2020 and 2021 candidates were printed at the time of virtual graduation and a reprint fee will be required for any changes made to these certificates.

Only if your details are incorrect, should you complete a change of details form and submit this along with a copy of your identity document or passport to the Student Enrolment Centre.

To avoid the costs associated with a reprint due to incorrect detail, potential graduates should ensure that their details are correct timeously as specified above.

Graduation Gown Hire or Purchase

Graduation gown hiring or purchase is for the graduate’s account and no items are funded by UJ.  The official Gown Supplier for 2026 is Dippenaar en Reinecke.

Photography Booking

While photos are taken of every candidate on stage, the purchase of photos is for the graduate’s account and no items are funded by UJ.  The official photographer for 2026 is Gordon Harris Photographic.

Ceremony information

1. Ceremonies\ UJ will host graduation ceremonies in Autumn starting 2 March 2026 until 12 June 2026. at the UJ Auditorium, Auckland Park Kingsway Campus.

Autumn 2026 ceremonies will be held for candidates who complied with the requirements to graduate by 31 December 2025.

Winter 2026 ceremonies will be held between 14 July 2026 and 31 July 2026 for candidates who complied with the requirements to graduate between 1 January 2026 till 31 March 2026.

Spring 2026 ceremonies will be held between 17 September 2026 and 30 September 2026 for candidates who complied with the requirements to graduate between 1 April 2o26 and 31 July 2026.
