News on Applications for Winter Semester 2026/27

The application period for the MSc in Money, Macro and Finance has changed.\ Applications open on January 2, with three submission deadlines: January 31, March 31, and May 15, 2026.\ Early applications are strongly encouraged.

Admission and Requirements

Admission to the Master’s Program in Money, Macro and Finance takes place on an annual basis, with the program starting in October. Applications must be submitted in due time and form. Please read the following information carefully, as incomplete applications will be excluded from the selection procedure.\ \ Important: Applicants should hold, or expect to hold by the time of enrollment, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Finance, or a closely quantitative related field.

Application period: Applications open on January 2 and may be submitted by one of the following deadlines: January 31, March 31, and May 15 (final deadline).

Application must be submitted via the uni-assist online portal.

Application/Admissions Process and Deadlines

January 31

Top applicants in stage one can expect to receive positive feedback within four to six weeks after the deadline. All other applications from this stage will be considered in stage three, after the final deadline (May 15).

March 31

Top applicants in stage two can expect to receive positive feedback within four to six weeks after the deadline. All other applications from this stage will be considered in stage three, after the final deadline (May 15).

May 15

In stage three, all applications received will be reviewed, and applicants will receive a positive or negative update within four to six weeks.

We strongly encourage applicants to submit their application dossier in the early stages. At the time of application, students must have completed at least 80% of the credit points required for graduation in their program (see section Required Documents – Degree Certificates and Transcripts).

The admission score is composed of the following criteria:


Average Bachelor's Degree (final or preliminary)	51%
Quantitative Skills	19%
Motivation Letter	15%

Required Documents

Degree Certificates and Transcripts

All applicants must provide the following documents:

Previous degree(s) including the final grade (GPA) and a transcript of records.

If your final diploma has not been issued yet:

A certificate of enrollment in your current Bachelor’s degree program, and
A preliminary diploma or transcript of records, listing all passed examinations and your current average grade. This document must be issued by the same office that provides final diplomas. At the time of application, your transcript must show that you have completed at least 80% of the credit points required for graduation from your program.

All applicants must upload official documents:

the copy of your bachelor’s degree including the final GPA and the transcript of records. The same holds for your certificate of enrollment and the preliminary transcript of records if you have not yet received your final diploma. If applicable, these documents must be accompanied by a certified translation into German or English (see uni-assist’s information on certifications and translations).

Proof of English Language Proficiency

Proof of English language proficiency to be rendered by either of the following:

TOEFL (at least 95 iBT).
IELTS Academic Test (band score of at least 7)
UNIcert (at least level 3)
Cambridge Certificate (at least C1 Advanced)

Proof of those results (scan copy / pdf) must also be uploaded with your online application via uni-assist, else your scores will not be considered.

If your Bachelor degree program’s sole language of instruction was English, you are exempted from submitting a language certificate. Instead, please provide proof of your English proficiency by uploading a document confirming the language of instruction of your Bachelor program issued by your university.

Assessment of Quantitative Skills

The admissions committee evaluates your quantitative skills based on the following:

Coursework in Quantitative Subjects:

The committee considers the amount of ECTS (10%) and the weighted grade average (9%) of quantitative courses listed in your transcript of records.
Please note that the committee will determine which modules qualify as sufficiently quantitative. If you are unsure, we recommend providing the corresponding module descriptions.
Ungraded modules cannot be considered.

Alternative Proof via Standardized Tests:

If you cannot demonstrate your quantitative skills through coursework, you can submit a GRE, GMAT, or GMAT Focus score report.
The admissions committee will only consider the percentile of the quantitative section (19%).
Official test scores must be sent via institutional reporting during the admissions process. Our GRE institution code is 4258.
Additionally, you must upload a copy of your score report (e.g., a scanned PDF) with your online application via uni-assist. Scores submitted without this uploaded proof will not be considered.

Motivational Letter

Please provide a motivational letter explaining your interest in the Master’s Program in Money, Macro and Finance. The letter must be written in English and must not exceed 750 words.

Recommendation Letter

Please provide one recommendation letter written in English by a professor or another qualified person. This letter can be submitted in one of the following ways:

Standard Letter: A traditional recommendation letter written and signed by a professor or another qualified person.
Alternative 1: Complete the form “recommendation_letter_alternative_mmf”, which must be filled out and signed by a professor or another qualified person.
Alternative 2: A written statement from the examination office of your undergraduate institution, indicating the percentile rank of your (preliminary) GPA.

Submission Options:

The letter can be uploaded directly by the applicant via the online application platform.
Alternatively, the letter can be sent directly by the person writing it to mmf.office@hof.uni-frankfurt.de.

Please ensure that the letter is submitted before the application deadline, as late or missing letters cannot be considered.

University Entrance Qualification

Please provide a plain (i.e., uncertified) copy of your university entrance qualification. Examples include:

Abitur
High school diploma
A-Levels
International Baccalaureate (IB)

Other equivalent qualifications are also accepted.

Please complete the form “application_info_nameofapplicant_masterprogram”. You can also download this file during the online application process on the uni-assist platform.

Important: Before uploading the completed PDF to uni-assist, please rename the file by replacing “nameofapplicant”with your full name and “masterprogram” with “MMF”.

APS Certificate

Applicants who obtained their Bachelor’s degree in China, Vietnam, or India must provide the original APS certificate.

Additional Supporting Documents (Optional)

You may include other documents to support your application, such as a curriculum vitae, references from previous employment or internships, or proof of scholarships awarded.
