PRME

The aim of the PRME initiative (Principles for Responsible Management Education) is the development of responsible management, research and leadership principles as well as their successful integration into student education at the participating universities.

In this context, PRME is inspired by internationally recognized guidelines, such as the principles of the United Nations Global Compact. The outcome should be a new generation of leaders who are aware of their responsibilities when faced with the complex challenges of the 21st century in the business world and society.

Although the terms “corporate responsibility” and “corporate sustainability” have long entered academic language, they are nevertheless still not anchored as a fundamental part of education. That is why the PRME initiative focuses on aligning curricula, research practices and teaching methods accordingly. Reviewing the general strategic orientation of the respective institution is also important. These objectives were set down in the shape of seven principles as a basic framework for all developmental progress. The faculty has been committed to these principles since 2009 on a voluntary basis and as part of its process of continuous improvement.

The PRME DACH Chapter was established in February 2014 after two years of preparation on the occasion of the PRME conference at MCI Management Center Innsbruck. It comprises the PRME signatories from the following German-speaking countries: Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Faculty of Economics and Business at Goethe University Frankfurt has supported and promoted the initiative since its inception and is one of its founding members.

The faculty’s long-standing connection with the PRME initiative is an important part of our commitment to excellent quality in education and teaching, thus representing a valuable addition to the successful (re-)accreditations in the framework of the ACQUIN institutional accreditation of Goethe University Frankfurt and by the AACSB.
