General questions
When is the registration period for the business language courses?
Typically, the registration phase commences three weeks prior to the initiation of lectures and concludes subsequent to the first week of said lectures. The enrolment process for the "Courses for all students" traditionally begins a few days in advance of the "Credit-point courses".\ \ Summersemester 2026:
Courses for all students: 26.03.2026 (9 a.m.) to 17.04.2026 (5 p.m.)
Credit-point courses, Master's Course: 30.03.2026 (9 a.m.) to 09.04.2026 (noon)
All business language courses start on the 13th April 2026, unless otherwise stated in the QIS/LSF.
Who is eligible to enrol on our language courses?
The Business languages courses are designed in the first instance for students of the Faculty of Economics. However, students belonging to other faculties may also enrol for the “Courses for all students“.
Is it permitted to enrol on two courses of the same language?
- Courses for all students: in the same language, no. You are allowed to register for two or three courses of different languages.
- Credit-point courses: You are allowed to register for 2 credit-points courses in English so as for one credit-point course in French and/or Spanish.
Which level do I need for the application for a semester abroad with Erasmus?

Is the B2 language requirement fulfilled if both B2.1 and B2.2 levels are recognized?
Yes, it doesn't matter whether you have B2.1 or B2.2 - the decisive factor is that level B2 is achieved overall.
Whom should I contact if I have a question?
All questions should be sent via e-mail wis@wiwi.uni-frankfurt.de. All questions appertaining to the department languages for economists will be answered in this form. We would kindly request that you use this contact address and not contact our instructors directly. Questions that can only be answered by an instructor will be forwarded to them.
Courses for all students
How do I access the placement tests?
You must log on with your HRZ-Account and then register before you can start the test.
Is the placement test compulsory and am I obliged to adhere to its result?
No, the placement test for the "Courses for all students" is not compulsory and does not lead to automatic enrolment in the respective course. This test only serves to assess your language level. However, we strongly recommend that you adhere to the corresponding result when registering for the course.
Where can I send the course fees to?
Please fill in the bank remittance as follows:

- Verwendungszweck (particulars of course - code number, etc):
Please do not forget to write the invoice number on your bank remittance so that our booking and payment system can easily recognise your payment. The invoice number can be found in your confirmation e-mail.
How do I find out what my final grade is?
Your grades will be on your certificate, which will be emailed to you approximately 6 weeks after the course ends.
Credit-point courses & Master's course
Where can I find my Study Certificate (Studienbescheinigung)?
You can download it via the website of the University's Data-Processing Center (Hochschulrechenzentrum) by using your HRZ-password.
Please have it and (if available) your language certificate ready for registration.
How do I register for the Qualifying Test?
The registration for the Qualifying Test is done automatically with the enrolment for the course.
What does the QT consist of?
The Qualifying Test for the respective Credit-point courses (English, French, and Spanish) is an online test conducted during the first week of lectures, with a duration of approximately 45 minutes. It consists of multiple-choice questions and assesses your knowledge of grammar, vocabulary (particularly in the field of business), as well as reading comprehension. The level required to pass this test is B2.2.\ It is mandatory for all students who have not yet passed any Credit-point courses in the respective language.\ Registration for the qualifying test is automatic upon enrollment in the course. You will receive a link three days before the online exam, which will be conducted through the LPlus platform.
When is the Qualifying Test compulsory and when can it be waived?
The qualifying test for the Credit-point courses is compulsory for all students who have not yet successfully completed a Credit-point course in the respective language. The only exception to this requirement is the possession of one of the following English language certificates, which would allow for a waiver of the compulsory participation in the Bachelor Credit-Point Courses in English:
Cambridge Certificate C1\ TOEFL test from 100 points\ IELTS test from 7.5 pts.
How do I find out what my final grade is?
You can check your grades password protected in QIS. Every certificate will be emailed to you approximately 6 weeks after the course ends.
