Application
If you wish to study at the Faculty of Economics and Business as an international exchange student, you have to be part of a formal exchange program between your home university and the Faculty. In addition you must be officially nominated by your home university. Nomination deadlines are: 15 May for the winter term, 15 November for the summer term.
Once you have been nominated, please submit your application to the Global Office of Goethe University. For details on the online application process, please see here.

- May 1st - June 15th for the winter term
- November 1st - December 15th for the summer term
Language requirements
At the Faculty degree programs and courses are offered in either German or English. We recommend that students have good language skills in English or German (B2 level) according to the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR). A language certificate is not mandatory.
Visa and registration
Visa\ Most non-EU students are required to obtain a visa for stays of more than three months. Exemptions apply to students from EU countries, as well as to students from the EEA countries Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway, and to Swiss students.\ Please contact the German diplomatic representation in your home country (i.e. embassy or consulate) as early as possible - ideally at least two months before your planned departure - to find out if you need a visa for your studies in Germany. Registration at the Residence Registration Office\ International exchange students have to register at the Residence Registration Office (“Einwohnermeldeamt”) within a week after their arrival in Germany (please make an appointment here).
Foreigners' Registration Office\ Non-EU citizens have to register at the Foreigners' Registration Office ("Ausländerbehörde) in addition (please make an appointment here).
