1964  Department of Electrophysics established – under the Graduate Institute of Electronics

1967  The Graduate Institute of Electronics reorganized into the College of Engineering: Department of Electrophysics under the College of Engineering - 1970s

1972  Department of Applied Mathematics established – under the College of Engineering

1977  Graduate Institute of Applied Mathematics established its Master's program – under the College of Engineering

1979

• National Chiao Tung University reinstated as a university, College of Science established
• Department of Electrophysics transferred to the College of Science – Bachelor's students still awarded a Bachelor of Engineering degree
• Department of Applied Mathematics transferred to the College of Science (moved from the Bo-Ai Campus to Management Building 1 on the Guangfu Campus)

1980

• Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering established – under the Department of Electrophysics
• Department of Computer Science established
• 1980s

1982  Graduate Institute of Applied Chemistry established (New Student Dormitory)

1983

• Science Building 1 completed and opened
• Department of Electrophysics (including the Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering) moved into Science Building 1

1984  Department and Graduate Institute of Applied Mathematics merged, moved into Science Building 1, Doctoral program in Applied Mathematics established

1988  Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering became an independent institute

1990  Department of Applied Chemistry established - 1990s

1992

• Graduate Institute of Statistics established (Science Building 1)
• Doctoral program in the Department of Applied Chemistry established
• Science Building 2 completed and opened; College of Science, Department and Graduate Institute of Applied Chemistry moved into Science Building 2

1993  Master's program in the Graduate Institute of Physics established

1994  Graduate Institute of Biotechnology established

1995

• Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering transferred to the College of Electrical and Computer Engineering
• Department of Computer Science transferred to the College of Electrical and Computer Engineering

1996

• Graduate Institute of Statistics moved into General Building 1
• Graduate Institute of Physics moved from the Bo-Ai Campus to the 3rd floor of the Computer and Network Center on the Guangfu Campus

1997  Doctoral program in the Graduate Institute of Statistics established

1998  Doctoral program in the Graduate Institute of Biotechnology established

• Doctoral program in the Graduate Institute of Physics established
• Department of Biotechnology established

2001

• Executive Master's Program of the College of Science established
• Graduate Institute of Biochemical Engineering established

2002  Graduate Institute of Bioinformatics established

• Graduate Institute of Molecular Science established
• College of Biological Science and Technology established; Department and Graduate Institute of Biotechnology, Graduate Institute of Biochemical Engineering, Graduate Institute of Bioinformatics transferred to the College of Biological Science and Technology
• Department of Electrophysics moved into Engineering Building VI
• Outstanding Dean's Award of the College of Science established

2006  Bachelor of Science Degree Program of the College of Science (abbreviated as Bachelor of Science Program) established

2007

• Master's Program in Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing established
• Outstanding Dean's Award of the College of Science renamed Young Scholar Research Award of the College of Science

2009

• Center for Scientific Computation and Mathematical Modeling established
• Tian Jabin Optoelectronics Center Building completed and opened
• 2010s

2011  Basic Science Teaching and Research Building (abbreviated as Science Building 3) completed and opened

2012

• Yau Center established (Science Building 1)
• College of Science, Department of Electrophysics, Graduate Institute of Physics, Executive Master's Program, Bachelor of Science Program moved into Science Building 3

2016  The Center for Scientific Computation and Mathematical Modeling completed its phased mission and its operations ended

2017  Young Scholar Research Award of the College of Science renamed Innovation in Teaching Award and Young Scholar Research Award of the College of Science

2018  Molecular Science Research Center completed its phased mission and its operations ended

2019  Basic Science Teaching and Research Building renamed Science Building 3 - 2020s

2021  Center for Theoretical and Computational Physics established (Science Building 3)
