## **CSP Payment Options**

### **What are my student contribution payment options?**

Students in [Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs)](/faq/288) have three options for paying their student contributions.

#### Full deferred

Eligible students (Australian citizens, permanent humanitarian visa holders, and some New Zealand citizens who [meet the government criteria](http://studyassist.gov.au/sites/studyassist/helpfulresources/pages/faqs-nz#AmIEligible)) can choose to not make any up-front payment by deferring their student contribution and making repayments through the taxation system. If you are eligible and wish to defer all of your student contribution amounts using HECS-HELP, you must provide your tax file number on your 'Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP' form.

If you have not provided your tax file number on your 'Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP' form, you must make full up-front payment by the payment due date for each subject or your enrolment will be cancelled.

#### Full up-front payment

If you are eligible to defer your student contribution amount using HECS-HELP and have provided your tax file number on your 'Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP' form, but wish to pay your student contribution amount upfront in full, you must make full up-front payment by the census date for each subject or your student contribution amount will be deferred to HECS-HELP.\
\
If you are an Australian permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen who does not meet the government criteria, you are not eligible to defer your student contribution amount and must make full up-front payment by the payment due date for each subject or your enrolment will be cancelled.

#### Partial up-front payment

If you are eligible to defer your student contribution amount using HECS-HELP but wish to pay part of your student contribution, you must provide your tax file number on your 'Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP' form.\
\
If you do not pay your full student contribution by the [subject census date](http://students.unimelb.edu.au/admin/census-dates), any unpaid amount will be deferred to HECS-HELP.\
\
If you are an Australian permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen who does not meet the government criteria, you are not eligible to make a partial up-front payment and to defer your remaining student contribution amount. You must make full up-front payment by the payment due date for each subject or your enrolment will be cancelled.
