## About **GSA**

The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is an independent, membership based, association that represents all graduate coursework and research students at the University of Melbourne.

With a 30-year history, and as the largest dedicated postgraduate association in Australia, GSA plays a vital role in advocating for student interests, fostering cohesive communities, and delivering year-round events, programs, development opportunities, and support to the graduate student community.

### Policy and Advocacy Support Officer

- **Full time, fixed term position up to December 2026**
- **Salary range: 3.1 plus super**
- **Location: Melbourne University – Parkville Campus**

##### **About the role**

As the Policy and Advocacy Support Officer at the Graduate Student Association (GSA), you’ll play a key role in helping drive initiatives that make a real difference for students at The University of Melbourne. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the coordination and implementation of policy and advocacy projects, making sure the team stays organised and that projects move smoothly from start to finish. \
In this role, you’ll support stakeholder consultation and engagement activities, help prepare and update important documents and communications, maintain records and data, and handle everyday administrative tasks that keep advocacy efforts moving forward. You’ll also work closely with internal teams and stakeholders, providing reliable support and building strong professional relationships across GSA.

This position is a great fit for an organised, proactive individual who’s passionate about contributing to work that benefits the community. If you’re interested in building a career in policy, advocacy, or the non-profit sector, this job offers an excellent starting point. ##### **About You**

Our Ideal candidate will:

- Completion of a relevant diploma-level or certificate qualification with experience, or an equivalent mix of training and experience.
- Written and verbal communication skills relevant to preparing persuasive policy documents and undertaking effective stakeholder engagement.
- Recent postgraduate qualifications in a relevant area. A relevant area includes public policy, social policy, political science, law, economics, education, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge and skills of Microsoft Office.
- Preference will be given to candidates that recently completed their graduate studies from University of Melbourne.
