The master’s programme in Interdisciplinary Eastern European Studies qualifies early stage researchers for disciplines in the humanities and social sciences that deal with the East European region and societies. Graduates have specialist knowledge of the culture, society, politics and history of at least one of the countries in the region, as well as (at least) basic knowledge of an East European language.

## Study Programme

The degree programme has the following structure: A compulsory module providing an introduction to multidisciplinary Eastern European studies, an alternative group of compulsory modules on disciplinary compensations, an alternative compulsory module providing a specialisation, and a compulsory module providing an individual specialisation. Furthermore, students have to complete compulsory interdisciplinary research seminars, as well as a compulsory master’s seminar, requiring them to write a master’s thesis and pass a master’s examination. Students have to specialise in one of the following subject areas: Eastern European history, social sciences or Slavic languages and literatures.
