Students of the bachelor’s programme in Art History gain insight into the thematic as well as methodological diversity of academic work in the field of art history. In addition, they acquire basic skills in academic observations, research and reasoning. They are able to present the results of their own research in writing or orally in an appropriate manner.

Students have to complete courses in the following areas:

- Medieval art history (late antiquity/Middle Ages)
- Early modern art history (early modern period)
- Modern art history (modern period)
- Contemporary art
- Central European art history
- Byzantine art history
- Islamic art history
- Asian art history
