# Musicology (Bachelor)

The bachelor's programme in Musicology provides a broad overview of the individual subdisciplines of musicology, focusing in particular on older and modern history of European music, music from outside Europe, contemporary and popular music, music theory, as well as the scientific, social-scientific and cultural fundamentals of music. In addition, students obtain qualifications that are applicable to practice, such as basic knowledge of editorial techniques, sound and image recording, librarianship, archive studies and museums, as well as the media business. By the end of the degree programme, students have to provide evidence of knowledge of Latin.

## Study programme

The bachelor's programme in Musicology consists of an Introductory and Orientation Period (STEOP), the compulsory module Academic Writing and Research Methods, compulsory modules on the core topics of musicology and a group of elective modules, from which students can choose various specialisations. To successfully complete the bachelor’s programme, students have to write two bachelor's theses.
