The bachelor’s programme in Religious Education offers five emphases in Catholic Religious Education, Catholic Theological Education, Protestant Religious Education, Religious Studies and Orthodox Religious Education. It prepares students for future employment as teachers of religious education in the education sector (church and non-church institutions, adult education, child and youth work, public relations and media) by providing a philosophical, theological, religious and philological pre-professional education. In combination with teaching practice, the General Educational Fundamentals and Studies on Teaching complement the subject-specific academic training.

Introductory and orientation period (STEOP)
Study Programme
The bachelor’s programme in Religious Education consists of an Introductory and Orientation Period (STEOP), the compulsory module Introduction to the History of Religions, as well as one of the following groups of alternative compulsory modules: Catholic Religious Education, Catholic Theological Education, Protestant Religious Education, Religious Studies, Orthodox Religious Education. To successfully complete the programme, students have to write a bachelor’s thesis.
