Are you interested in Slavic countries and cultures? The bachelor’s programme in Slavonic Studies equips you with a sound language education as well as extensive philological knowledge of the Slavic languages, from their origins to the present. Furthermore, you will discover the diversity of Slavic cultures in Austria, Europe and around the world.

Offered Languages

Languages: Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Bulgarian, Czech, Polish, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian,  Ukrainian

Information on the language options can be found in the curriculum.

You will acquire level B2 in your main language and level A1 in a second language (previous knowledge is not required).

Study Programme

The bachelor’s programme consists of an Introductory and Orientation Period (STEOP), compulsory modules focusing on acquisition of a Slavonic language (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Bulgarian, Polish, Russian, Slovakian, Slovenian, Czech, Ukrainian), linguistics, literary studies, regional and cultural studies, acquisition of a second Slavonic language, and an individual specialisation. To successfully complete the programme, students have to write two bachelor’s theses.
