# Classical Philology (Master)

Graduates of the master’s programme in Classical Philology are competent in dealing with all subject areas of classical philology (Greek literature of antiquity, Latin literature of antiquity, Latin language and literature in the Middle Ages and modern time). They are able to professionally comment on texts from these eras based on linguistic, literary and cultural studies criteria and critically assess them from a perspective of aesthetics of production and reception. In addition, they have specialised in one of the three subject areas mentioned above and are qualified to publish academic papers on this subject.

## Study Programme

The master’s programme consists of the following modules: Literature in Theory and Practice; Greek Language and Literature; Latin Language and Literature; Specialisation (either Greek literature or Latin literature of antiquity or Latin literature in the Middle Ages and modern time). In addition, students have to complete a module on textual transmission and reception, as well as the Master’s Module.
