# Erasmus+ Short-Term PhD Mobility

# Erasmus+ Short-Term PhD Mobility

Within the framework of Erasmus+, **regular PhD students of the University of Vienna** can apply for Erasmus+ funding for **self-organised 5-14-day stays abroad** at a university, research institution or company in the Erasmus programme area (EU27 + remaining EEA countries + TR, RS, MK).

- Target group

  **Regular PhD students from the first semester onwards** are eligible to participate.

  *Please note: PhD students in a salaried position (e.g. University Assistant PraeDoc, project staff member, lecturer) are excluded from participation.*

  Instead, they are eligible for funding via [Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Researchers.](https://international.univie.ac.at/faculty-staff-mobility/researchers/outgoing-mobility/erasmus-staff-mobility-researchers/)
- Duration of stay

  Minimum 5 days, maximum 14 days
- Scholarship rates

  **The scholarship amount is 79 euros per day of stay.**

  The scholarship will be transferred in full before the start of the mobility.

  For students with fewer opportunities, there is the possibility of an additional allowance. Likewise, a one-time grant can be awarded for the use of environmentally friendly means of transport.

- Application deadlines

  Applications can be submitted each semester approximately 5-6 weeks after the start of the semester.

  The next application deadline is:

- Application

  To apply, please fill in the Erasmus+ Short-Term PhD Mobility [Application Form](https://international.univie.ac.at/fileadmin/user_upload/d_ie/3_Faculty_Staff/2_Researchers/Short-Term_PhD_Mobility_-_Application_Form_outgoing.pdf), sign it and send it together with a short CV (1-2 pages) and your Certificate of Enrolment by email to [erasmus.phd@univie.ac.at](javascript:linkTo_UnCryptMailto('ocknvq,gtcuowu0rjfBwpkxkg0ce0cv');).
- Additional information for third-country nationals

  **If you are not an EU citizen (or equivalent), please inform yourself about the applicable residence regulations at the respective consulates** and, if necessary, apply for an additional appropriate residence title.
- Application documents

  The following application documents must be sent together by email to [erasmus.phd@univie.ac.at](javascript:linkTo_UnCryptMailto('ocknvq,gtcuowu0rjfBwpkxkg0ce0cv');)

  by the application deadline.

  **1. Application Form**

  To apply, you will need the **completed [Application Form](https://international.univie.ac.at/fileadmin/user_upload/d_ie/3_Faculty_Staff/2_Researchers/Short-Term_PhD_Mobility_-_Application_Form_outgoing.pdf)** (download in the right margins). Please discuss the planned mobility in advance with your supervisor at the University of Vienna and the supervisor at the host institution and have their approvals confirmed by e-mail.

  **2. CV and Certificate of Enrolment**

  Please submit an **updated CV** (maximum 2 pages) and a current **Certificate of Enrolment** together with the Application Form.

   

  Further documents such as a letter of motivation, letter of invitation, etc. are not required.
- Approval of the application

  The application documents are checked formally by the International Office. **The approval is made by a selection committee** a few weeks after the application deadline.

   

  After the selection process, the applicants receive a **written notification** from the International Office**. For approved applications, the Erasmus+ Learning Agreement for Traineeship will also be sent.**

   

  The Learning Agreement for Traineeship has to be filled in by you based on the information in your Application Form. The Learning Agreement for Traineeship has to be signed by your DSPL (Doctoral School Study Programme Director) and the responsible person at the host institution. It has to be sent to [erasmus.phd@un](javascript:linkTo_UnCryptMailto('ocknvq,gtcuowu0rjfBwpkxkg0ce0cv');)[ivie.ac.at](javascript:linkTo_UnCryptMailto('ocknvq,gtcuowu0rjfBwpkxkg0ce0cv');) at least 2 weeks before the start of the mobility.
- Insurance coverage

  Please note: It is your responsibility to check about insurance coverage (health, accident, liability, travel insurance, etc.) during your stay and to organise additional insurance coverage if necessary. Insurance coverage may also be provided by the host institution. Sufficient insurance coverage is mandatory and is the sole responsibility of the participants.
- During/after the stay

  The participants will be informed by us about the necessary administrative steps during the stay or after the end of the mobility approximately 2 weeks before the start of the mobility.
