The master’s programme in Mass Media and Communication Science at the University of Vienna aims at educating academics who are able to deal with current, socially relevant issues in the area of communication science, using appropriate state-of-the-art research methods on a high, internationally transferable level, and act as decision-makers in the area of communication. The master’s programme focuses on the contexts, contents and impact/consequences of communication processes on a micro, meso and macro level.

## Study Programme

The master’s programme consists of compulsory modules on the following subject areas: Advanced Theory; Advanced Methods; Advanced Job-Related Skills (divided into four areas: media and communication management; media and communications law; research in communication science; areas of professional practice); Research Seminars; Individual Electives and the Master’s Module, including a master’s thesis and a master’s examination.
