## Research
At the Department of Linguistics, we have been researching sign language since the early 1970s.
Today our research is mainly about linguistically describing signed languages and in particular Swedish Sign Language (SSL).\
Our research on the multilingualism in the deaf and hard of hearing concerns questions about deaf language learners in general and deaf Swedish language learners in particular. For example, we study similarities and differences between deaf and hearing second language learners.
We are also interested in issues regarding the need for bilingualism that the deaf and hard of hearing people have in different situations.
