Welcome to the Department of Swedish Language and Multilingualism (Svefler)!

We do research on Swedish and other languages ​​in Sweden, on multilingual individuals and societies and on interpretation and translation. We offer a wide range of courses and programmes for you who are interested in language and communication in the present and past, language contact or language learning.

Our research

At Svefler we conduct research into Swedish and other languages in Sweden, individual and societal multilingualism, and interpreting and translation studies. Common to all our research – regardless of theoretical perspective – is that we in some way explore the relationship between language and humankind.
