Rare Scheele work found – returned after 70 years

A copy of Carl Wilhelm Scheele’s classic 1777 work that appeared at a Swedish auction house turned out to have once belonged to the Physical Institute of Stockholm College – today known as the Department of Physics. The book has now been returned to Stockholm University Library — and it also connects to the very earliest history of the university.

Free admission for students at Swedish Museum of Natural History

Study in the library

The library has many study spaces and areas for group work. On the entrance floor, talking in a normal speaking voice is allowed, while the upper floor and the Bergdahl room are quiet zones. Members of the public are also welcome to use the study spaces.

Our research and learning support

The library provides support and services to researchers and PhD students at Stockholm University. We offer support in literature searching, dissertation, research data, publishing, and archiving. If you are a university teacher, you can also book teaching in information literacy for your students.

For students

The library provides support for you as a student in literature searching and reference management software throughout your studies. With us, you can book search consultation with a librarian, either on-site or online.

Archiving and registration at Stockholm University

The library includes the central Archives and Registry function, which serve both the university and the general public.

Our researcher-driven press is an open access publisher of peer-reviewed academic journals and books.

Special collections and rare prints

The library has an extensive collection of old and rare prints, manuscripts and maps, as well as digitized collections
